OFF98: Some Alert Messages Do Not Contain Any Buttons

SYMPTOMS

Some alert dialog boxes that are displayed in the Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition programs do not contain any buttons. For example, the alert box that asks you whether or not to save changes when you close a document does not contain any buttons.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you are running version 5.04 of the Kensington MouseWorks control panel.

RESOLUTION

Kensington Technology Group has released an update that fixes this problem. To obtain the update, point your Web browser to the following address:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:

Point to Control Panels on the Apple Menu, and then click Extensions Manager.

Clear the Kensington Mouse Works check box.

Clear the Kensington Startup check box.

To restart your computer, click Restart.
