To update your network installation of Office 98 with the Microsoft Office 98 Updater, follow these steps:

  1. Copy the folder that contains the network installation of Microsoft Office 98 to your local hard drive.


  2. Double-click Office 98 Update for Mac OS 8.5.


  3. In the dialog box that displays the Readme file for the Microsoft Office 98 Updater, click Continue.


  4. In the Office 98 Update for Mac OS 8.5 dialog box, click Update.

    NOTE: If the Select Folder button is available, then Microsoft Office 98 Updater has found more than one copy of Office 98 on your hard drive. To ensure that the correct copy of Office 98 is updated, follow these steps:

    1. Click Select Folder.


    2. The top of the Select File dialog box lists each copy of the Microsoft Office First Run file that was found. When you click an entry in the top of the Select File dialog box, the location of the file is displayed in the lower portion of the dialog box. Click the copy of Microsoft Office First Run that is located in the folder that you copied in Step 1, and then click OK.


    3. In the Office 98 Update for Mac OS 8.5 dialog box, click Update.

      The appropriate files will be updated in the Microsoft Office 98 folder that you copied to your hard disk drive.




  5. Copy the Microsoft Office 98 folder to your network server.
