OFF98: Cannot Paste Text from Clipboard to WordArt

ID: Q204149

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition
  • Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition

SYMPTOMS

If you copy text to the clipboard, click Insert WordArt on the Drawing toolbar, and click OK in the WordArt Gallery dialog box, you cannot paste the copied text into the text box in the Edit WordArt Text dialog box.

CAUSE

Although you can paste into any cell or text box with COMMAND+V, there is no Edit or Paste command available on the menu bar when the Edit WordArt Text dialog box appears. COMMAND+V does not paste previously copied text. If you cancel the Edit WordArt Text dialog box, you can use COMMAND+V or click Paste on the Edit menu and paste the previously copied text into a cell.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

Copy (COMMAND+C), Cut (COMMAND+X), Paste (COMMAND+V), and their corresponding menu choices are generally not supported in the dialog boxes of the Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition programs.
