OFF98: Error Installing FileMaker Pro Add-In When Office Is Not Installed on Your Hard Disk

SYMPTOMS

When you install the FileMaker Pro Add-In, you receive one or more of the the following error messages:

Error creating file.
1008:5,-44

Error creating file.
1008:5,-5031

An error occurred that prevented the installation from completing.

CAUSE

This problem will occur if any of the following conditions are true:

• Office is not installed on your hard disk.

• You are running Office from CD-ROM.


-or-


• You are running Office from a network volume.

RESOLUTION

You must install Office to your hard disk before you install the FileMaker Pro Add-Ins.
