The Office 98/FileMaker Pro Importer includes an add-in for Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition and Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition that allows Excel and Word to import data from a FileMaker database. This article describes how to obtain and install the add-ins.

Installing the Add-ins

To install the add-ins included with the Office98/FileMaker Pro Importer, follow these steps:
  1. Double-click the Office 98-FileMaker Pro Setup icon.


  2. Click Accept in the dialog box that displays the license agreement.


  3. Click Continue in the dialog box that displays the Read Me file.


  4. Click Install in the Office 98-FileMaker Pro Setup dialog box.


  5. Click Quit in the message that tells you the installation was successful.


The add-ins for Word and Excel are now installed. Before you can use the Excel add-in, you must follow these additional steps:
  1. Start Excel.


  2. On the Tools menu, click Add-ins.


  3. In the Add-ins available list, click to select the Excel Filemaker Pro Importer check box, and then click OK.


Using the Add-ins

To use the Excel add-in, point to Get External Data on the Data menu and then click Import From FileMaker.

To use the Word add-in, click Mail Merge From FileMaker on the Tools menu.
