INFO: Using the Microsoft Office Developer (MOD) MSDN Help with Visual Studio

ID: Q243271

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Office 2000 Developer, version 2000
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0

SUMMARY

When installing the Microsoft Office Developer (MOD) version of the MSDN Library on a system that has Visual Studio 6.0 installed, you are prompted whether you would like to update your context-sensitive F1-Help for Visual Studio. The message reads:

MSDN Setup is going to set the preferred developer shell's F1 Help
Collection to the "MSDN Library - Office 2000 Developer" collection. This
will set the language for both context-sensitive F1-Help and Help accessed
through the Help menu in the Microsoft Visual Studio 6.x development
environment to the language of this installation. Do you want MSDN Setup
to do this?
It is recommended that you select Yes in the dialog box. The version of MSDN that comes with Microsoft Office Developer is a complete version of the MSDN Library (June 1999), and can be treated as an update to your Visual Studio 6.0 or 6.0a MSDN Help (August/October 1998).

If you are experiencing difficulties with context-sensitive help for Office Developer items after installing the MOD MSDN, and you can select No in the dialog box during setup, then rerun the MSDN Setup and select Yes to correct the problem.
