SYMPTOMS

When you print a binder in the Microsoft Office Binder, the printed file may not have page numbers.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the individual sections in the binder are not formatted to print page numbers.

For example, a new file that you create in Microsoft Word does not print page numbers by default, and it does not print page numbers when you add it as a section in a binder. This behavior is by design. Even if you modify any of the page numbering values in the Print Binder dialog box, the binder does not print page numbers unless you have added the page numbers using the program that was used to create the file.

Microsoft Office Binder does not have the functionality to turn page numbering and other header/footer information for the binder file on or off. Additionally, you cannot format the placement or layout of the header or footer in a binder file. This formatting is determined by the formatting in the individual sections.

RESOLUTION

To print a binder with page numbers, add the page numbers to the header or footer of each section in the binder, using the appropriate procedure for the program that you used to create the individual section. The following information describes how to display the header/footer dialog box for each of the Microsoft Office programs (from within the Binder):

Microsoft Word

On the View menu, click Header And Footer.

Microsoft Excel

On the Section menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Header/Footer tab.

Microsoft PowerPoint

On the View menu, click Header And Footer.
Note that you can add the header or footer to the file using the appropriate Office program before you add the section from the file in the Binder, or, if the section is already added, you can add the header or footer to the section from within the Binder.
