SYMPTOMSWhen you run the Office Setup program using the Add/Remove Office Programs command (Office Shortcut Bar) or the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box (Control Panel), the following message appears: This behavior occurs even if the Office compact disc (CD) is currently located in the CD-ROM drive on your computer. Additionally, if you click Cancel, you receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you run the Office Setup program from a CD using
the Add/Remove Office Programs command on the Office Shortcut Bar, or the
Add/Remove Programs icon in Control Panel. Normally, when you run a Setup
program from the Office Setup And Uninstall dialog box or the Add/Remove
Programs Properties dialog box, if the Setup file for that program is
currently available on a floppy disk, a CD, or a network drive, Windows
runs the Setup program for that application. However, when you run the
Office Setup program on CD using either of these dialog boxes, Windows asks
you to insert the CD that contains the Setup program.
RESOLUTION
To avoid this behavior, run Setup from the Office CD instead of from the
Office Setup And Uninstall dialog box or the Add/Remove Programs dialog
box.
