SUMMARY

Microsoft Office Binder supports many file formats. This feature allows you to add a new or existing file to a Binder. The following is a list of these file formats and their extensions (where applicable):

Microsoft Excel Workbooks (.xls)
Microsoft Excel Templates (.xlt)
Microsoft Excel Scraps
Microsoft Excel 4.0 Worksheets (.xls)
Files Saved in Microsoft Excel 5.0, 7.0, or 97 as 4.0 Workbooks (*.xlw)
SYLK (Symbolic Link) (.slk)
Microsoft Word Documents (.doc)
Microsoft Word Templates (.dot)
Microsoft Word Scraps
Rich-text Format (.rtf)
Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations, version 97, 7.0 and 4.0 only (.ppt)
Microsoft PowerPoint Templates (.pot)
Microsoft PowerPoint Scraps
Microsoft Binder Documents (.obd)
Microsoft Binder Templates (.obt)


MORE INFORMATION

You can add the supported file formats (those mentioned above) to a Microsoft Office Binder in either of the following ways:

  • On the Section menu, click Add or click Add From File.

    -or-


  • Drag the file into the left pane of the Binder.


NOTE: Scraps that are included in the supported file formats are only supported under Windows 95.

To put part of a document on the desktop as a scrap

  1. In your document, select the text or graphic that you want to copy.


  2. Drag the selected text or graphic to the desktop.

    A scrap is created. You can now drag the scrap to other documents or programs.


NOTE: You can use this feature only if the program from which you take the scrap supports drag and drop functions for OLE.
