ID: Q142976

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Office for Windows 95, version 7.0
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, version 7.0

SYMPTOMS

When you select a Microsoft Excel section of a Microsoft Binder and then double-click the Print Cell Notes Help topic, you may receive the following message:

The command is currently unavailable in Microsoft Excel
If Microsoft Excel is not running when you double-click the Print Cell Notes Help topic, you may receive the following message:
I want to display help in a workbook, but there are no workbooks that are currently open.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you do all of the following:

  • Select a Microsoft Excel section of a Microsoft Binder.

    -and-

  • Click "Microsoft Excel Help Topics" on the Help menu.

    -and-

  • Click the Contents tab, double-click Printing, double-click Printing Your Work, and then double-click Print Cell Notes.

This behavior occurs because Microsoft Binder is unable to find the Microsoft Excel Help topic.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Binder. This behavior does not occur when you access the Print Cell Notes Help topic in Microsoft Excel for Windows 95.

MORE INFORMATION

A Binder is a collection of programs rolled up into one "notebook" or Binder. For example, instead of opening Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint individually, you can create a Binder and add a Word document, an Excel worksheet, and a PowerPoint presentation. You can then save the Binder, which includes all the types of files, and open the collection of files at once at a later time.
