SYMPTOMSIf you insert a Microsoft Excel workbook object into a document in Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition, the computer may not respond for a very long time. When it does respond, you may receive either or both of the following error messages:
-or- When you dismiss all of the error messages, the workbook is not inserted into the document. CAUSEThis problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
-and- -and- WORKAROUNDTo prevent this problem from occurring, either remove or disable the Auto_Open and Workbook_Open macros in the workbook. After you do this, you can insert the workbook into a document in Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition without receiving an error message. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available. MORE INFORMATIONWhen you insert a workbook into a document in Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition, and the workbook contains either an Auto_Open macro or a Workbook_Open macro, the macro attempts to run. However, because Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition is not the active program, the macro runs in the background.
