OFF98: Locals Window, Watch Window, and Watches Not Available

SYMPTOMS

In the programs listed at the beginning of this article, the Locals Window and Watch Window commands are not available on the View menu in the Visual Basic Editor. Also, the Add Watch, Edit Watch, and Quick Watch commands are not available on the Debug menu.


CAUSE

The Locals Window and Watch Window are not available. Also, because the Watch Window is not available, it is not possible to add or edit watches or to use Quick Watch to monitor the value of a watch.


STATUS

This behavior is by design of the Visual Basic Editor in the programs listed at the beginning of this article.


MORE INFORMATION

In the programs included in Microsoft Office 97 for Windows:

  • The Locals Window displays all of the declared variables in the current procedure and their values.


  • The Watch Window allows you to monitor watch expressions that are defined in your project.


  • You can add, edit, and monitor watches by using the watch commands on the Debug menu.


These features are not available in the programs included in Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition.
