OFF7: Error Inputting "00" as Year in Custom Document Property

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

In the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article, the following error message may appear when you click Properties on the File menu and add or modify a custom property in the Properties dialog box:

The value entered does not match the specified type. The value will be stored as text.


CAUSE

This behavior may occur if both of the following conditions are true for the custom property you are adding or modifying:

  • On the Custom tab of the Properties dialog box, you click Date in the Type list.


  • -and-

  • You type the date into the Value field with a "00" year, such as 01/01/00.


RESOLUTION

Download and install the most recent version of the Office 95 Year 2000 Update.
