OFF7: Two-Digit Years in Custom Document Properties Dialog Box in 1900s

ID: Q248089

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Office for Windows 95, version 7.0

SYMPTOMS

If you enter a date that uses a two-digit year in the Custom tab of the Properties dialog box, the date is in the twentieth century (from 1900 to 1999).

NOTE: You may need to change the Short Date format in your Regional Settings of your operating system to see the four-digit date that is interpreted.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if you do the following:

  1. On the File menu, you click Properties.

  2. You click the Custom tab.

  3. In the Name list box, you select a field name or enter a new field name in the edit box.

  4. In the Type list, you click Date.

  5. In the Value box, you enter a date that uses a two-digit year, for example, 7/5/05.

  6. You click Add.

Note that the date appears in the Properties list box as 7/5/1905, not 7/5/2005.
