SUMMARY

If you create your own number formats in Microsoft Graph, you can display your numbers however you like, which can help reduce data entry time. Each format you create can have up to three sections that are separated by semicolons. The number of sections you include determines the format for positive numbers, negative numbers, and zeros, in that order.

If you include only two sections, the first one is used for both positive numbers and zeros, and the second one for negative numbers. If you have only one section, all numbers use that format. For example, if you assign the format 000-00-0000 to a cell, then all numbers you type into that cell will appear with a hyphen before and after the two middle digits.

To create a new custom format, follow these steps:

Select the cell or cells you want to format.

On the Format menu, click Number (click Number on the Datasheet menu, in PowerPoint Graph 1.0).

Click the Format box and edit the format so that it appears in the desired format.

Click OK.

Graph formats the selected cells with the new format and adds the format to the list box so you can easily use it again.
