SYMPTOMS

When you configure a Web Subscription notification that is sent to an invalid e-mail address or to an e-mail address that is external to your intranet, the following message occurs:

You have successfully subscribed to event
Where event is the event configured to send the e-mail notification.

There is no warning indicating that the e-mail address is invalid or external to your intranet.

CAUSE

The Document Subscription dialog box does not validate the e-mail address that you type into the Address box in the e-mail options.

RESOLUTION

Method 1

Configure your e-mail service so that no e-mail can be sent outside of your company.

Method 2

The Office Server Extensions (OSE) Web administrator can check for inappropriate or invalid e-mail addresses. To do this, use the following steps:

  1. Start the Microsoft Office Server Extensions Administration Home Page by typing in the following URL:
    http:\\your_servername\msoffice\msoadmin
Where your_servername is the name of the OSE server.

  2. Click Manage Web Subscriptions.

  3. Review the e-mail addresses in the subscription list box.

  4. Select any Web Subscriptions with inappropriate e-mail addresses and click Delete.

NOTE: You must be the OSE server's Web administrator in order to do this.
