Web Subscription Notification Does Not Validate E-Mail Address

SYMPTOMS
When you configure a Web Subscription notification that is sent to an invalid e-mail address or to an e-mail address that is external to your intranet, the following message occurs:
You have successfully subscribed to event
Where event is the event configured to send the e-mail notification.
There is no warning indicating that the e-mail address is invalid or external to your intranet.
CAUSE
The Document Subscription dialog box does not validate the e-mail address that you type into the Address box in the e-mail options.
RESOLUTION
Method 1
Configure your e-mail service so that no e-mail can be sent outside of your company.
Method 2
The Office Server Extensions (OSE) Web administrator can check for inappropriate or invalid e-mail addresses. To do this, use the following steps:
- Start the Microsoft Office Server Extensions Administration Home Page by typing in the following URL:
http:\\your_servername\msoffice\msoadmin
Where your_servername is the name of the OSE server.
- Click Manage Web Subscriptions.
- Review the e-mail addresses in the subscription list box.
- Select any Web Subscriptions with inappropriate e-mail addresses and click Delete.
NOTE: You must be the OSE server's Web administrator in order to do this.
MORE INFORMATION
The notification e-mail contains the following information:
- The name of the Web server where the document is stored.
- The name of the document.
- The event that occurred on the document to send the notification e-mail.
- What time the event occurred.
- The user name of the person who created the event.
- The domain of the above user.
- The e-mail address of the OSE (Office Server Extended) Web server administrator.
This information may be sent to an incorrect e-mail address or an e-mail address outside your workgroup.
