Discussions Lost After Saving File to HTML Format

SYMPTOMS

If you use the Save As Web Page option in a Word document that contains discussions and then try to reopen the HTML version of the Word document, the discussions are no longer visible.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

By saving the Word Document as an HTML file, you are creating a brand new file. The file extension has changed from .doc to .htm and is treated as a new, independent file.

As with any new file, you will not have existing discussions present. Therefore, discussion information is not transferred when a Word Document is saved as a Web page.
