SYMPTOMS

When you install the Microsoft Office 2000 Server Extensions to your FrontPage 98 Extended Web Server, then remove the Office 2000 Server Extension, the FrontPage 98 Server Extensions no longer work.

CAUSE

This is because the FrontPage 98 Server Extensions have been upgraded to FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions upon installation of the Office 2000 Server Extensions.

RESOLUTION

After you remove the Office 2000 Server Extensions, you must manually re-install the FrontPage 98 Server Extensions to your Web server.

MORE INFORMATION

By installing the Microsoft Office 2000 Server Extensions, you are upgrading (replacing) the FrontPage 98 Server Extensions to FrontPage 2000. When you uninstall the Office 2000 Server Extensions, you remove ALL server extensions from the Web server, leaving your Web server un-extended.

Because there are no longer any server extensions installed, you must re-install either the FrontPage 98 or 2000 Server Extensions.
