OL2000: Unable to Change to Another Language Using Global IME

SYMPTOMS

When using Microsoft Global IME with Microsoft Outlook 2000, you are unable to switch to a different foreign language, even though you do not have a problem switching to a different foreign language in Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0.


RESOLUTION

To use Microsoft Global IME with Outlook you must change your default message format to HTML.

NOTE: Your recipient must also use an HTML-enabled e-mail program to read your messages.

To change your default outgoing message format to HTML. follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.


  2. Click the Mail Format Tab.


  3. In the "Send in this message format" list, click HTML, and click OK.


Global IME is designed to allow you to communicate in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean without having to run a separate Chinese, Japanese, or Korean version of Windows.
