OL2000: Problem Selecting Multiple Attachments

The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to insert attachments in a Microsoft Outlook e-mail
message, you cannot select multiple files from the Insert File dialog box.
CAUSE
This is by design when you are using Microsoft Word as your default e-mail
editor.
RESOLUTION
Select the attachment files one at a time from Insert File dialog box.
-or-
Select multiple files from Windows Explorer and drag them onto the
message.
-or-
Change your default e-mail editor to Microsoft Outlook Rich Text (RTF).

- In the open message, on the Insert menu, click File.
- In the Insert File dialog box, click to select a file, click
Attachment in the Insert As list, and click OK.
- Repeat step 2 for each file you want to attach.
To Drag Multiple Files from Windows Explorer
- Minimize Outlook behind the open message.
- Right-click Start on the Windows Taskbar and click Explore.
- Position the Explorer window and the mail message window so that you
can see both.
- In Explorer, move to the folder containing the files you want to attach.
- Click to select the files you want to attach:
- If they are contiguous, click the first file, and then hold down the
SHIFT key while you click the last file.
- If they are non-contiguous, hold down the CTRL key while you click
each file.
- Drag the selected files onto the message.
To Change Your Default E-mail Editor to (RTF)
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Mail Format tab, click to select Microsoft Outlook Rich Text
from the "Send in this message format" list.
- Click Apply and OK.
