NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed. SUMMARYWhen you start Microsoft Outlook, it may automatically try to make a dial- up connection. This article describes how to prevent Outlook from dialing the modem when starting so that you can work off-line. You can then make a connection manually, by clicking Tools, pointing to Send and Receive, and then clicking to choose the appropriate account. MORE INFORMATION
You can have Outlook automatically dial on a scheduled basis with the timer
initializing when Outlook starts; you must also select "Automatically dial
when checking for new messages."
