OL2000: Cannot edit text in message received as Plain or HTML text

SYMPTOMS

The custom toolbar button, Edit Message, is unavailable at times.


CAUSE

The toolbars, and menus, although customizable, are modal. In other words, certain buttons and menu items will be visible depending on what type of e- mail message you are viewing.


MORE INFORMATION

The Edit Message command is designed to allow editing of HTML or plain text email messages before forwarding or replying. The button or menu item, will only be available when you open a message that was created in HTML or plain text format. If you open a mail message that was created and sent as Microsoft Outlook Rich Text or when you use Word as your e-mail editor, the button will not appear on the toolbar, and it will not be available under the Edit menu.
