OL2000: (CW) Making Custom Views Available in Public Folders

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu, click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook, you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

This article describes how to define and apply custom views to a public folder so that other users are able to see the changes you've made.

To Define a Global View to a Public Folder

To make your custom view available to all users of the public folder, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Outlook object for which you are creating the new view (Calendar, Inbox, Contacts, and so on.)


  2. Click the View menu, point to Current Views, and click Define Views.


  3. Click New.


  4. Click to select "Can be used on this folder, visible to everyone."


  5. Type the name you have chosen for the view and select the View Type from the list.


  6. Click OK and define the remaining format options for the view that you are creating.


  7. Click OK and Apply View.


You should now be able to select the view that you defined on all computers that have been given permissions to that public folder and Outlook object.
