OL2000: Contact Not Listed in the Journal Contact List

ID: Q197546

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

SYMPTOMS

In the Journal options, one or more of your contacts may not be displayed in the For These Contacts list. As a result, you cannot set your contact to have items automatically recorded in the Journal.

CAUSE

The contacts are not in the Contacts folder in your primary mail delivery store.

RESOLUTION

You can make contacts available in your Journal options by adding them to the Contacts folder in your primary delivery store. For example, if you set your mail delivery to your Personal Folders Inbox, use the Contacts folder under your Personal Folders. If you set your mail delivery to your Mailbox Folder Inbox, use the Contacts Folder under your Mailbox Folder.

MORE INFORMATION

You can automatically record e-mail messages, meetings, and tasks for specific contacts in your Journal. Under the Journal options, only the contacts from your default e-mail delivery folder appear in the For These Contacts list.

Set Automatic Journal Recording for a Contact

To set automatic journal recording for a contact, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then, on the Preferences tab, click Journal Options.

  2. Under "Automatically record these items," click to select the items that you want automatically recorded in the Journal.

  3. Under For These Contacts, click to select the contacts for whom you want selected items to be automatically recorded in the Journal.

  4. Click OK twice to close the Options.

Outlook will now automatically record all items for the selected contacts in your active Journal.
