NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed.

SYMPTOMS

You are attempting to connect to the mail server at the IBM Global Network using the dialer program provided when you initially subscribed to the service. After the connection is made, you immediately receive the following error message:

OUTLOOK caused an Invalid Page Fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 015f:bff9d709

RESOLUTION

There are two methods to successfully connect to the IBM Global Network with Microsoft Outlook.

Method 1

The IBM dialer creates a Windows Dial-up Networking connection during the configuration. This connection is used by the dialer when you click Connect. You can use this connection to connect to the IBM Global Network prior to starting Outlook and before checking for mail. If you choose to connect to the IBM Global Network using this method, you will remain connected to the Internet after you exit Outlook.

To use the Dial-up connection created by the IBM dialer, follow these steps:

  1. Double-click My Computer.

  2. Double-click the Dial-up Networking folder, and then double-click the connection named IBM Global Network.

  3. Ensure that the account information and password are typed correctly, and then click Connect.

  4. Start Outlook.

  5. On the Tools menu, point to Send And Receive, and click IBM Global Network.

Method 2

You can configure a new, separate Dial-up Network connection for the IBM Global Network using the Dial-up Networking Wizard.

To use an alternate Dial-up connection rather than the one created by the IBM dialer, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts. Click the account you defined for the IBM Global Network, and then click Properties.

  2. Click the Connection tab and under Modem, click to select the newly created Dial-up connection.

  3. Click OK and Close.
