OL2000: ErrMsg: "WFXMSRVR caused an invalid page fault in module GDI.EXE" Sending a Fax

ID: Q212940

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to send a fax from Outlook you may receive the following error message:

WFXMSRVR caused an invalid page fault in module GDI.EXE at 0023:00000d00.

CAUSE

A possible cause is that you have not completed the setup of your modem by configuring in the modem's dialing properties. This may occur if you install a modem for the first time during the same Windows session as your attempt to install WinFax. Normally, a modem installation requires you to restart your computer. The reboot detects the modem and forces you to configure the modem's dialing properties. Until the modem dialing properties configuration is complete you will not be able to fax or dial out to an Internet Service Provider.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, complete the modem configuration using the following steps:

  1. Quit all programs.

  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

  3. Double-click the Modem icon.

  4. Click Dialing Properties and fill in the information under the My Location tab.

  5. Click OK and OK to close the Control Panel.
