NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate or Workgroup" if you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation. SYMPTOMSIf you synchronize offline folder settings in Microsoft Outlook you may receive the following error message:
CAUSEThe offline folder file (.ost) is located on another computer and is not shared or is not available. When you click OK to the above error message, Outlook quits. If you then restart Outlook it appears to run properly; however, without warning Outlook now uses a local offline folder at: C:\Windows\Local Settings\Application Data\ Microsoft\Outlook.ost. RESOLUTIONStore your .ost on your local computer or be sure the .ost located on the other computer is available before you synchronize offline folder settings.
