SYMPTOMSWhen you install Microsoft Outlook using a package deployment with Microsoft System Management Server (SMS), and choose the "Install on First Use" option, you will not have an Outlook icon on the Windows Quick Launch bar. CAUSESMS automatically sets the Outlook first-run switch which prevents the icon from being inserted on actual first-run. RESOLUTIONUse the Programs menu or the Desktop icon to start Outlook. Or, you can manually add the Outlook shortcut to the Quick Launch folder. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
