SYMPTOMSIf you have configured Outlook to use a cable modem to send and receive e-mail, you will not be able to send and receive faxes without a separate modem. CAUSEA fax connection requires a two-way serial communication link between the sending and receiving devices. In order to fax, you must have Outlook configured to use a modem capable of faxing. Cable modems are not capable of faxing. Cable Internet services use a television coaxial cable connection. The cable modem device is attached to a network card instead of the traditional modem, which uses a serial or Universal Serial Bus (USB) port. RESOLUTIONIn order to send faxes with Outlook, you need to install a separate modem that is capable of fax transmissions. You must also configure the fax service in your Outlook account or profile.
