OL2000: (CW) cc:Mail Import Fails If Folder in Path Has More Than Eight Characters

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate or Workgroup" if you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation.

SYMPTOMS

You have configured Outlook to use a cc:Mail post office. When you attempt to import folders previously created on the post office, you receive the following error:

Configuration Error: This system does not have the necessary resources to perform the requested import. See the "Software Requirements" section in cwimport.txt for more information.


CAUSE

A folder name in the path to the cc:Mail post office contains more than eight characters.


RESOLUTION

Change the folder name to eight characters or less.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
