OL2000: Duplicate Entries in the Outlook Stationery List

SYMPTOMS

When you choose to send an e-mail message in HTML format using Stationery, you may see duplicate entries in the Stationery list.


CAUSE

You installed Outlook over an earlier version and the Stationery list is displaying the contents of two different folders.


RESOLUTION

Search for and remove one copy of each duplicate Stationery item (.htm file) from either folder.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.


MORE INFORMATION

The default location for Stationery in Outlook 98 is:

\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery
The default location for these files in Outlook 2000 is:
\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Stationery\1033
Outlook will display entries from both of these folders in the Stationery list.

To Send an E-mail Message Using Stationery:

  1. On the Action menu, point to New Message Using, and then click More Stationery.


  2. Click to select a Stationery file to see it in the Preview window.


  3. Click OK to open a message using the selected stationery as the message background.


NOTES
  • If you chose Install on First Use for the Stationery during setup, you may receive a message that this is about to be done.


  • You can download additional stationery from the OfficeUpdate Web site by clicking Get More Stationery in the Select a Stationery dialog box.
