NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed. SYMPTOMS
When you add a contact with the same name but a different e-mail address as an existing contact, Microsoft Outlook warns you that you are about to create a duplicate contact. If you click OK, accepting the update, Outlook places the new e-mail address in the E-mail field and moves the existing e-mail address to the E-mail2 field.
RESOLUTIONTo correct this problem, use the appropriate method for your situation. Method 1Use this method if you want to have only one contact for the person. Copy and paste the e-mail addresses from their respective fields, reversing the order.Method 2Use this method if you want to have multiple contacts for the same person. In the Duplicate Contact Detected dialog box, click Add this as a new contact anyway and click OK.MORE INFORMATIONThe Duplicate Contact Detection feature saves a copy of the original contact in your Deleted Items folder. If you want to return to the contact form you had originally before creating the second contact, drag this backup to your Contact folder. Additional query words: OL2K
