OL2000: ErrMsg When Joining An Online Meeting

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to join an Outlook online meeting using Microsoft NetMeeting, you may receive the following error message:

Microsoft NetMeeting
You have called your own computer. Please make sure that the address or name you have specified is correct.


CAUSE

You are attempting to join the online meeting while using NetMeeting on Microsoft Windows Terminal Server, and another user of the same terminal server has already joined the meeting.

Outlook does not support the use of NetMeeting on Windows Terminal Server.


RESOLUTION

Do not use Outlook online meetings with NetMeeting if you are using Outlook from a Windows Terminal Server.

If two Outlook users are on different Windows Terminal Server computers, NetMeeting appears to function properly. However, if two Outlook users use the same Windows Terminal Server, the second user to try to join the meeting receives an error message mentioned in the Symptoms section.

The Outlook has the option to use NetMeeting for teleconferencing. For example, you can set a meeting to use the this is an on line meeting using Microsoft NetMeeting option, or on the View menu, point to Go To, and then click Internet Call to start a NetMeeting conversation. While this integration with NetMeeting provides Outlook with enhanced collaboration capabilities, it is not supported when Outlook and NetMeeting are run from Windows Terminal Server.
