OL2000: (CW) cc:Mail: Modifying Command.pif Causes Bulletin Board Import to Fail

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate or Workgroup" if you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation.

SYMPTOMS

You are using the cc:Mail Service tool, Import cc:Mail Bulletin Boards, to import messages from bulletin boards on a cc:Mail post office into your Outlook personal folder. Prior to starting the import process, you modified the Command.pif file to make Close on Exit unavailable. When you start the import process, the Import cc:Mail dialog box never appears.

RESOLUTION

Make Close On Exit available as a property of Command.pif.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
