NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed. SYMPTOMSIf you attempt to send or forward a fax to one of your contacts that has a fax number but no e-mail address, you will receive the following error message where <contact name> is the contact you wanted to fax to. CAUSEThe item is not properly set as a fax item. RESOLUTION
On the Actions menu, click New Fax Message. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATIONWhile you can send faxes by typing the fax number on the To line of an e-mail message, you cannot use a contact record to address your fax unless it also has an e-mail address.
