OL2000: Round-trip RTF Message May Cause a Fault in Outlook 97

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000


SYMPTOMS

Your response to a message received from someone using Microsoft Outlook 97, may cause a failure in the Outlook 97 user's computer. This can happen under the following conditions:

  • The Outlook 97 user sent the message using the Internet Mail service.


  • The Outlook 97 user sent the message in Microsoft Outlook rich-text format (RTF).


  • You responded to the message in the same format.



RESOLUTION

Respond to the Outlook 97 user in Plain Text format or have the Outlook 97 user install the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch (IMEP) for Outlook 97.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
