OL2000: (IMO) Send Using Command Not Available with Word Editor

ID: Q222207

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed.

SYMPTOMS

If you use Microsoft Word 2000 as your e-mail editor, the message sending format is either HTML or Plain Text, and you have multiple Internet e-mail accounts, there is no Send Using command on the File menu of the message.

RESOLUTION

To select the account from which to send a Word-formatted message, click the Options button. The Send message using list in the Options dialog box allows you to select the sending account.

If you select Microsoft Outlook Rich Text to be the message sending format, the Send Using command appears on the File menu.

NOTE: If you use Microsoft Word 97 as the e-mail editor and select either Plain Text or Microsoft Outlook Rich Text as the message sending format, the Send Using command is on the File menu.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The Send Using command allows you to select the account the message is sent from. This behavior is different from Outlook 98.

In Outlook 98 (IMO), the Send Using command appears on the File menu when authoring a message using Word as the editor. In Outlook 2000 (IMO) there is no Send Using command on the File menu.
