SYMPTOMSIf you create a new rule, select "run rule now," and then cancel running the rule, you receive the following warning message: This rule could not be created. Check your folder permissions. CAUSEYou cancelled the rule before it ran. If you choose not to run the rule, or you allow the rule to run to completion, you do not receive this warning. RESOLUTIONEither allow the rule to run without interruption, or do not select "run rule now." The rule appears when you click Rules Wizard on the View menu. The rule is saved, even though the warning message says it could not be created. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
