OL2000: (CW) Long Startup Times Using MSN 2.0 with Outlook 2000

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate or Workgroup" if you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation.

SYMPTOMS

If you use Outlook with a profile configured to use the Microsoft Network (MSN) service, and client version 2.0 or earlier, you will experience extremely long start-up times.


CAUSE

The earlier version of the Microsoft Network Online 2.0 client is not supported with Outlook 2000.


MORE INFORMATION

Outlook does not load the client extension used with Outlook 97 and Outlook 98. The result is the behavior described in the Symptoms section.

Outlook does support using the Internet E-mail service to send and receive e-mail from MSN 2.5 and later.
