SUMMARY
When you create a document in Microsoft Word and then copy and paste the contents into an Outlook message, you may see inconsistant results.
This article describes the behavior you may observe when you attempt to paste items, created in Word, into an Outlook mail message.
MORE INFORMATION
In Outlook you can choose the following e-mail formats:
- Outlook Rich Text Format (RTF)
- Rich Text Format with Word as the e-mail editor
- Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)
- Hypertext Markup Language with Word as the e-mail editor
NOTE: The Plain Text message format is not considered because this format does not support any item other than text. When using Word as the e-mail editor, and Plain Text as the format, the items mentioned in the table appear in the message as it is composed, but they are not sent with the message.
The following table assumes that you used the Select All command to copy the items in the Word document, and then paste them into the Outlook message. The "X" indicates an item that is pasted into the Outlook message body.
