ID: Q222288

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

SYMPTOMS

If you use the Import and Export Wizard to export Outlook items such as e-mail messages or contacts, to a Microsoft Excel file, the body of large e-mail messages or contact notes are truncated. This happens when the field contains over 255 characters.

RESOLUTION

Exporting to Microsoft Access instead of Excel, avoids this problem. To export a file to Access, follow these steps:

  1. On the File menu, click Import and Export.

  2. Under Choose an action to perform, click Export to a file, and then click Next.

  3. Under Create a file of type, click Microsoft Access, and then click Next. If you are prompted to install the Import/Export engine, click Yes.

  4. Under Select folder to export from, click to select your Inbox, and then click Next.

  5. Under Save exported file as, type the path and Access file name to which you want to export, and then click Next.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
