NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed. SYMPTOMSAfter installing Microsoft Outlook 2000 in Internet Mail Only mode as an upgrade from Outlook 97, and then returning to Outlook 97, you receive the following error when attempting to run Outlook:
CAUSEThe original profile used with Outlook 97 contains information that has been changed in the Outlook 2000 account configuration. RESOLUTIONRebuild the Outlook 97 profile. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
When Outlook 2000 Internet Mail Only is set up, the profile (account) information is migrated from the existing Outlook 97 profile. The profile is renamed "Microsoft Internet Mail Settings." These settings are not converted back when Outlook 97 is reinstalled.
