OL2000: Error Message "Illegal Operation" When Double-clicking Selected File(s) Print Style

SYMPTOMS

If you double-click Selected Files in the Print style list, you may receive one of the following error messages

Outlook

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

Outlook caused an invalid page fault in module Outllib.dll.
or if you are using Microsoft Windows NT:
Dr. Watson for Windows NT

An application error has occurred and an application log is being generated.

Outlook.exe
Exception: access violation


CAUSE

There is no page setup option for the Selected File(s) print style. Double-clicking Selected File(s) attempts to open Page Setup. If you single click Selected File(s) you see the Page Setup button is unavailable.


RESOLUTION

Instead of double-clicking Selected File(s), single click Selected File(s), and then click OK to use this print style.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
