OL2000: How to Return to a Web Page from an Outlook Folder

ID: Q222438

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

SUMMARY

This article describes how you can return to a previously viewed Web page after you switch to an Outlook mail folder.

MORE INFORMATION

If you use the Web browsing functionality of Outlook to view Web pages, and then you click to view one of the Outlook mail folders, there is no apparent way to return to the last viewed Web page. When you are in a mail folder and the Web toolbar is on, the Back button is not available (greyed out).

Because Outlook uses the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser object and keeps track of sites you have recently visited, you can use the following steps to quickly return to the last site viewed:

  1. While you are in the mail folder, make sure the Web toolbar is turned on. If not, on the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Web. Notice that because you are in a mail folder the Back and Forward buttons are not available.

  2. On the Web toolbar, click the Home button. This activates the Forward and Back buttons as well as the Address bar.

You can now use the Back button or the previously viewed addresses from the Address bar to return to a previously viewed Web site.
