CAUSES

During Setup you selected Run All from Server.

The computer on which Outlook is installed has insufficient disk space.

Outlook First Run returns this error when Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Workstation has insufficient permissions on the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry key.

WHAT TO TRY

Run All from Server Selected

During Setup, in the Select Features dialog box, you choose the option Run all from Network. This option prevents certain shared programs from being installed on your computer, even if you choose Run all from My Computer from the list.

If you intend to mix the install states of various components of Office, the top level must be set to Run from My Computer.
