OL2000: Error Message "Can't create the item."

ERROR MESSAGE

You may receive the following error message when attempting to open an item in Outlook:
Can't create the item.

CAUSES

There may be a problem with your forms cache file, Frmcache.dat.

WHAT TO TRY

Rebuild the Forms Cache File

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.


  2. In Windows Explorer, move to the
    \Windows\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Forms
    folder on your hard disk drive.


  3. In the Forms folder, click to select the Frmcache.dat file, and press DELETE.


  4. On the File menu, click Close.


  5. Start Outlook. A new Frmcache.dat will be created.
