ID: Q223603

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

SUMMARY

If you install Outlook in Personal Information Manager (PIM)-only mode, the option to manually send updates to the Internet is not available.

MORE INFORMATION

Using Outlook, you can publish your calendar Free/Busy information to a server on the Internet. Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for the server address. This feature is available in Outlook with all modes of installation. If you use the PIM-only mode you cannot manually update the Free/Busy information by clicking a button.

If Outlook is in PIM-only mode, to configure it to update your Free/Busy information:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

  2. Click Calendar Options, and then click Free/Busy Options.

  3. In the Free/Busy Options dialog box, click to select the Publish my Free/Busy information check box. In the Publish at this URL box, type the URL to the location on your ISP server where your Free/Busy information is stored, and then click OK.

Your default connection dials and connects to your ISP. The Free/Busy information is uploaded to the server. From this point on, every time you quit Outlook, it dials in to and updates the Free/Busy information on your ISP server.

After Outlook in PIM-only mode is configured to update Free/Busy information, to manually update your Free/Busy information on the server without quitting Outlook:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

  2. Click Calendar Options, and then click Free/Busy Options.

  3. In the Free/Busy Options dialog box, click OK.

The dialer opens and connects to your ISP. It does not automatically disconnect after the update is completed.

If you use the Internet Mail Only (IMO) or Corporate/Workgroup (CW) mode you can manually send the Free/Busy information using a button. On the Tools menu, point to Send, and then click Free/Busy Information.
