SBCM: (CW) Errors Attempting to Open SBCM Contact with Outlook 97

- Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business Tools
Microsoft Outlook 2000

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate or Workgroup" if you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation.

SYMPTOMS

When you use Outlook 97, if you attempt to open a contact created with the Small Business Customer Manager (SBCM), you may receive one of the following series of error messages

Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine.

followed by:

Object doesn't support this property or method: 'page SBE.DataGrid1' Line No: 11.

Because Outlook 97 does not support integration with SBCM, another series of errors may also be seen:

Microsoft Outlook. The custom form could not be opened. Outlook will use an Outlook form instead. A required component is missing: Outlvbs.dll. Please install Microsoft Outlook again.

If you click OK, the following error appears:

Microsoft Outlook. Can't open this item. A required component is missing: OutlVBs.dll. Please install Microsoft Outlook again.

NOTE: These errors only occur when the contacts are stored in a Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox.

CAUSE

The Contact form for items created with the SBCM uses a custom form with form controls that Outlook 97 cannot access.

WORKAROUND

Access these contacts with Outlook 2000.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
