SBCM: Outlook Contact Is Not Displayed in Customer Views

ID: Q223849

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Small Business Customer Manager, included with:
    • Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business Tools
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

SYMPTOMS

If you import Outlook contacts into a Small Business Customer Manager (SBCM) database that includes accounting data, when you choose any of the customer views, the imported Outlook contacts are not included. You only see information from your accounting data. Selecting the All Contacts view shows the imported contacts and their company information.

If you create an SBCM database that does not include accounting data, import your Outlook contacts, and then choose any Customer view, you will receive the following warning:

Either there is no data that meets the criteria for this particular view, or there is no accounting data at all. Choose a different view, or import accounting data and try again.

CAUSE

Company information used by the SBCM originates from your accounting data when you first create the SBCM database. When you import Outlook contacts, new company names that are included as a part of the contact information are not used for the SBCM view filtering. As a result, any Customer views will not include your Outlook contacts.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
