OL2000: Tool Tips for Truncated Fields Do Not Appear When the Assistant Is Showing

SYMPTOMS

When you move your mouse over a truncated field in a tabular view, such as Messages, or Messages with AutoPreview, the expanded ToolTip may appear slowly, inconsistently, or not at all.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the Office Assistant is showing. Office Assistant animation may interrupt ToolTips for truncated fields.

RESOLUTION

Hide the Office Assistant. On the Help menu, click Hide the Office Assistant.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

Truncated fields occur when you view your items using a tabular view and the column headings are too narrow to display the contents of the entire field, such as a long subject within a narrow subject field.
